Role: Contracts Commercial Lead
Type: Interim up to 6-month contract
Day Rate: £500 to £650 per day UMB inside IR35
Hybrid: Ideally 3 days a week onsite
Location: London
Sellick Partnership is partnering with a large public sector organisation to recruit a Contracts Commercial Lead on an interim basis. This is a senior, delivery-focused role supporting a wider transformation programme, with a clear remit to improve commercial outcomes, strengthen contract governance, and drive value for money across a complex contract portfolio.
The responsibilities of the Contracts Commercial Lead will be:
Reviewing priority contracts to identify opportunities for commercial improvement, cost efficiencies, and enhanced supplier performance
Leading negotiations with suppliers to secure improved financial and contractual outcomes while protecting service delivery
Prioritising activity across high-value and strategically important contracts to maximise short- and medium-term benefits
Working closely with finance, procurement, legal, and operational stakeholders to enhance contract management approaches
Introducing improved commercial models, pricing mechanisms, and incentives to support sustainable value
Establishing robust governance, reporting, and tracking of savings and benefits for senior stakeholders
Sharing commercial best practice and supporting capability building across contract management teams
The ideal candidate for the Contracts Commercial Lead role will have:
A strong track record of delivering tangible contract savings and improved commercial terms within Public Sector environments
Advanced commercial and financial analysis skills, including the ability to interrogate spend and cost drivers
Extensive experience leading supplier negotiations in high-value or sensitive settings
A solid understanding of public sector procurement and contract governance frameworks
The ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders and work at pace in an interim capacity
Clear and confident communication skills, particularly when presenting commercial outcomes and trade-offs
