About the role

Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting on behalf of a local council for a Driver to join their multi-disciplinary operations team. This is a practical, outdoor position ideal for someone who enjoys a hands-on role, variety in their working day, and contributing to essential community services.

As a Driver, you will be responsible for transporting equipment, materials, and personnel to various sites across the borough, while supporting operational teams with both general and specialist duties. You will work in all weather conditions and play a key part in maintaining public spaces and facilities to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

Drive council vehicles safely and efficiently, including those with trailers, ride-ons, and other machinery.

Complete daily vehicle checks and report any defects or issues to management.

Carry out a range of operational and grounds-related duties, including physically demanding work.

Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on vehicles and equipment.

Secure council buildings and sites, ensuring correct locking and unlocking procedures are followed.

Monitor fuel and equipment stock levels at depots and liaise with the relevant teams to ensure adequate supply.

Deliver excellent customer service to the public and colleagues.

Work to schedules, respond to changing priorities, and meet deadlines as directed by the line manager.

Promote and comply with all Health & Safety, Customer Care, and Equality policies and procedures.

About You

The ideal candidate will be reliable, safety-conscious, and flexible, with a positive approach to work. You should be able to work both independently and as part of a team, taking pride in delivering high-quality public services.

Requirements

Valid UK Driving Licence (Category B, B+E, C1, or C1+E)

Previous experience in a driving or grounds maintenance role

Strong understanding of Health & Safety procedures

Good communication and teamwork skills

Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Flexibility to meet the operational needs of the service

Desirable Qualifications

GCSEs (x2) or equivalent

Manual Handling, Needle Stick, or IOSH Working Safely certification
