Teacher of English

Long-Term Opportunities Across Kirklees

The summer holidays are already a distant memory, and if September is anything to go by, this academic year is set to be another busy one!

At Hays Education, we are already seeing long-term teaching vacancies arrive faster than they did at the same stage last year. I am currently working with 14 secondary schools across Kirklees, including schools in Huddersfield and Batley, and I am looking to connect with outstanding Teachers of English for a range of upcoming long-term opportunities.

Last year, I successfully placed 10+ English teachers into long-term positions across the region, and with demand already increasing, I expect similar numbers this year. Many of these roles are paid to scale, offer excellent support for teachers at all stages of their career, and several have the potential to become permanent appointments.

The RoleAs a Teacher of English, you will:

Deliver engaging and inspiring English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5).

Help students develop confidence in reading, writing, speaking and literature analysis.

Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where pupils can thrive.

Assess, monitor and support student progress.

Contribute positively to the wider life of the school. What We're Looking For

A recognised UK teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS or equivalent).

Recent experience teaching the English curriculum within the last three years.

Strong classroom management skills and a passion for English.

The ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.

A flexible, professional and enthusiastic approach to teaching. Why Join Hays Education?

Long-term opportunities with leading secondary schools across Kirklees.

Paid to your MPS/UPS scale where applicable.

Potential for roles to transition into permanent appointments.

Access to a dedicated consultant with extensive local school partnerships.

Opportunities in a variety of school settings across Huddersfield, Batley and the surrounding areas.Whether you're an experienced English teacher looking for your next challenge or an ECT keen to secure a long-term role, I'd love to hear from you. With schools already planning ahead and vacancies increasing, now is the perfect time to get your file ready and explore what opportunities are available for this academic year.
