I utilise functional training to overcome and mitigate any injuries or postural challenges my clients face - very common in today’s world! The idea is to strengthen and liberate the body to be able to enjoy life to its fullest and not be restricted in your movement or activities.
The psychology of health and fitness has always been a fascinating area for me. Over the years I have worked with my clients through a range of mental blocks, often uncovering previously unknown issues. Through non-judgemental listening and a gentle, compassionate push in the right direction, I have seen clients flourish.
I work across Hampstead, Kensington and Harrogate areas with sessions taking place outdoors or in the comfort of your own home - both in person or online.

John is a highly motivating and experienced personal trainer. The sessions were tailored to my level of fitness and what I wanted to achieve and he always pushed me the right amount. Even now, I still use his routines in the gym and refer to them as 'John workouts'. John is also more than a fitness coach - he gave me advice on nutrition and physical health, we had life chats and I always looked forward to our weekly sessions. I definitely recommend!

Best investment in my health!
I have been working out with John for nearly a year, 2 times a week. The regular routine of having a personal trainer has dramatically improved my overall health. I am over 65, and although in good health, I am doing significantly more walking & travel than before I retired, so it was important that I be able to "bounce back" whenever we overdid hiking, biking or other adventures . John has modified and personalized my routines and also identified the "why" of when I have aches or strains and how to strengthen that area. Our workouts have expanded to address improved stability, flexibility, posture, and strength. The regular workouts have also encouraged me to do additional exercise on my own, repeating the skills from our sessions.
Previously I had another trainer that I was using remotely, (which John also offered as an option when traveling). However, if you are looking for improvements, scheduling an in-person, regular session is the most useful, efficient use of your time.

Every now and then, you simply get really really really lucky. I found John via Bark over 9 months ago and have since been training with him 3 times a week. And if you have ever attempted training before, you will know that the only way you can train 3 times a week, is because you are actually enjoying it and getting results. John is an outstanding coach and a consummate professional, and is also just a really nice and friendly person to spend time with. He works/drives me hard and makes sure every workout is worth our time and effort. My whole body feels the effects of every workout, and as a result, the effects didn't take long to show. Weight loss, muscle growth, overall fitness and wellbeing are all vastly improved, thanks to John's excellent coaching and partnership. I can recommend him very highly.

My wife and I both worked with a trainer in the states for 5 years. We liked the trainer but we were doing it remotely and the exercises he had us do were relatively unchanging.
John works with us in person, is always on time, gives us a full one hour workout that is constantly changing. I feel we are both making good progress on our strength and endurance goals with his support. A few weekends ago we went for a 3 day hike on the South Downs Way, 30,000 steps a day and both did well thanks to his work with us.
