Legal Secretary

Location: NG10, Nottingham

Salary: £24,000 – £25,000

Hours: Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm

Start Date: Immediate start available

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join a well regarded law firm, providing key support within the Wills & Probate department. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive, organised and detail focused individual to work in a friendly and professional environment.

The successful candidate will deliver high quality secretarial and administrative support to a fee earner and additional support when needed, with a strong emphasis on digital dictation, document preparation and effective client liaison.

Key Responsibilities

Audio typing using digital dictation software

Drafting and preparing Wills, Probate applications, LPA documents, and related correspondence

Formatting, proofreading and editing legal documents with high attention to detail

Managing and maintaining both electronic and paper filing systems

Updating case management systems and maintaining accurate client records

Handling incoming calls, taking detailed messages and liaising with clients with professionalism and empathy

Coordinating appointments, managing diaries and scheduling meetings

Scanning, photocopying and archiving files as required

Supporting colleagues across the department and covering reception duties where necessary

Person Specification

Previous experience as a Legal Secretary, ideally within Wills, Probate, Private Client, or related practice areas

Fast and accurate audio typing skills

Strong knowledge of digital dictation and case management software

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)

Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities

Strong communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and empathy

A proactive, team-oriented approach and willingness to support wider office needs
