Job Title: Payroll Administrator

Location: Office-based, Essex area

Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 (depending on experience)

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to join a friendly and professional team. This role offers the chance to manage a varied payroll portfolio and liaise directly with clients, HMRC, and pension providers.

You will handle end-to-end payroll processing across multiple frequencies and be responsible for monthly CIS returns, ensuring compliance and accuracy at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Processing payrolls from start to finish

Managing starters and leavers, including issuing P45s

Calculating salaries and ensuring compliance with NMW and statutory requirements (SSP, SMP, etc.)

Uploading and submitting pension data to providers

Liaising with clients, HMRC, and The Pension Regulator

Handling client queries with accuracy and professionalism

Submitting Declarations of Compliance to The Pension Regulator

Processing monthly CIS returns

Preparing CIS suffered claims and supporting documentation

About You

Minimum of 1 year’s payroll processing experience (essential)

Knowledge of Sage 50 Payroll (advantageous but not essential)

Strong communication and organisational skills

Ability to plan, prioritise, and meet deadlines

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

Able to work independently and as part of a team
