Description

Full–Time Science Teacher Required – Leading Independent College in Cambridge (September 2025 Start – Key Stage 4 & 5 Essential)

Our leading independent college in the intellectually rich city of Cambridge seeks a dedicated and experienced Full–Time Teacher of Science to join our thriving department and make a profound difference to the scientific understanding, analytical prowess, and experimental capabilities of our students across Key Stage 4 and, crucially, Key Stage 5, commencing in September 2025.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Planning, preparing, and delivering highly effective and stimulating Science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics that cater to the diverse learning needs and high aspirations of our students across all relevant key stages. Fostering students' deep understanding of key scientific concepts, theories, and problem–solving techniques, with a strong emphasis on the comprehensive demands of the A–Level specifications. Encouraging rigorous analytical thinking, the construction of well–supported scientific arguments, and confident practical experimentation and data analysis. Assessing and tracking student progress in Science across all relevant key stages, providing insightful and constructive feedback, and implementing effective intervention strategies to ensure excellent outcomes, particularly for A–Level students. Contributing actively to the development, implementation, and rigorous review of the Science curriculum across all relevant key stages, ensuring alignment with examination specifications and providing extensive opportunities for scientific enrichment. Utilising and contributing to the development of high–quality Science resources, including practical equipment, digital simulations, and real–world application examples. Contributing to extracurricular activities that promote scientific understanding within the college community (e.g., science clubs, Olympiads, lecture visits at local university departments). Collaborating effectively with colleagues within the Science department and across the wider college to foster a rich and interdisciplinary learning environment. Engaging in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practice and keep abreast of current developments in science and pedagogy, with a strong focus on A–Level teaching and assessment. The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification. A degree in a Science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) or a closely related highly relevant scientific field. Successful and demonstrable experience teaching Science across Key Stage 4 (GCSE) and, crucially, A–Level (specialism in at least two of Biology, Chemistry, or Physics highly advantageous). A strong and up–to–date understanding of the A–Level Science curricula and relevant examination specifications. Exceptional pedagogical skills and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, particularly the academic rigour and depth required at Key Stage 5. A profound passion for Science and the ability to inspire and stretch students' critical thinking, analytical, and practical skills. Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. A steadfast commitment to the safeguarding and well–being of students and the promotion of scientific understanding within our vibrant Cambridge college community. Join our leading Science department in Cambridge from September 2025 and play a vital role in shaping the scientific understanding and future success of our students across all key stages, with a key focus on A–Level excellence!
