TeacherActive are proud to be working with a specialist academy in Birmingham to recruit an experienced and qualified School Counsellor.

This is an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and dedicated professional to join a supportive pastoral, safeguarding and wellbeing team, providing a confidential counselling service to students aged .

The Role:

Provide professional counselling and therapeutic interventions to students.Support young people with mental health, emotional wellbeing and personal development.Build trusting therapeutic relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.Carry out safeguarding procedures, risk assessments and appropriate referrals.Work closely with pastoral, safeguarding, SEND and attendance teams, as well as external agencies.Support students in developing resilience, coping strategies and positive outcomes. The Ideal Candidate:

A recognised qualification in Counselling, Psychotherapy, Counselling Psychology or equivalent.Membership or accreditation with a recognised professional body such as BACP, UKCP or NCPS.Experience delivering counselling or therapeutic interventions to young people.Experience supporting adolescents with mental health and emotional wellbeing difficulties.A strong understanding of safeguarding, risk assessment and confidentiality.Knowledge of trauma–informed and relational approaches.Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.Experience in a secondary school, sixth form or further education setting is desirable.
