About the Child: Harry is a bright, curious, and engaging 5-year-old who adores books, arcades, bright lights, and fast rides. He lives with his loving family — mum, dad, younger brother, and his wonderful gran, who is also his lead support worker. Harry has quadriplegic cerebral palsy and epilepsy, managed well with medication. He uses a wheelchair full time and requires full assistance for all care needs but enjoys time on the floor or sofa where he can stretch and relax. Cognitively, Harry is very switched on and loves to be involved in what’s happening around him. He recently started full-time at the Pace Centre School (Conductive Education), having thrived in their nursery programme.
The Role at a Glance: Your main role will be to drive and assist Harry and his gran to and from school, ensuring safe, smooth transitions between home and school. Mornings involve picking up Harry and his gran, helping load equipment, and accompanying them to the Pace Centre, then collecting them again in the afternoon and supporting Harry’s return home. On Fridays, you’ll assist with his Hippotherapy session, helping ensure everything runs smoothly and Harry is comfortable and supported throughout. His gran is his primary carer and leads on personal care, so your focus will be on practical and emotional support, teamwork, and creating a calm, positive start and end to Harry’s day.
This Job Would Suit: A kind, patient, and reliable Support Worker who is proactive, emotionally attuned, and enjoys working as part of a family-led care team. You’ll have experience supporting children with complex needs, and you’ll take pride in being responsive and adaptable to Harry’s needs. For this role, a full, clean UK driving licence is essential.
Why You’ll Love This Role: This is a deeply rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in a young child’s life. You’ll play a key part in supporting Harry’s independence and development while gaining valuable experience in Conductive Education and therapy-based approaches. You’ll join a warm, collaborative family team and receive comprehensive onboarding and training.
Recruitment Process: This vacancy is managed through Snap Care’s Shortlist Service. All applications will be reviewed to confirm essential criteria before being passed to our client/case manager, who will continue the process directly. By applying, you consent to your details being shared with our client.
