Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!

Part of our collection of French copper pans, we got this from a vide maison at Troyes in the Champagne region.
It is a big, heavy, vintage copper jam pan, or bassine a confiture dating to around the 1960s marked MADE IN FRANCE which was first used in France in the late 1950s.
Larger than others I’ve seen, it’s a professional quality piece with copper riveted brass handles and a hammered or martele finish.
Used but still in a sound, bright, watertight condition with an attractive patina it’s functional today.
It also makes a great decorative French Kitchenalia display, planter, jardiniere, or I’ve seen several of them recently used as domestic or shepherd’s hut bathroom or kitchen sinks…

In very good sound vintage condition with some wear and tarnishing consistent with age and use - please examine photographs carefully for condition.

In more or less as found condition having just had a thorough wash - I’m sure this would polish up well if so required.
The copper surfaces are in a good used condition with some wear and staining - see photos.
The interior is in a good clean condition being worn but intact.
The copper is thick and sturdy with no flex to it.
The upper edge is rolled and sound.
The base is worn but sound and watertight.
It is flat bottomed and stands well.
The brass handles are sound and secure at the triple copper riveted joints with no movement.
Marked MADE IN FRANCE next to a handle .
Measures approximately:
41 cm diameter,
48 cm long handle to handle,
14.5 cm tall to the pan edge,
weighs about 3.6 kg.
