Are you passionate about helping young people thrive through creativity? We’re looking for a Youth Support Assistant to help deliver exciting programmes for ages 12-25, from workshops and showcases to community projects.

You’ll support sessions, safeguarding, and partnerships - helping young people grow in confidence and creativity. If you’re organised, proactive, and care about inclusion and youth voice, we’d love to hear from you.

About the RoleJob Purpose: To provide support in the delivery of creative youth programmes for ages 12–25.

This may include supporting session delivery, safeguarding reporting, communication with partners, parents, and session practitioners, and the continued development of collaborative partnerships and networking that promote participation in youth programs at the Core, or the referral of young people on Core programs to other partner programs. The role will also be responsible for week to week safety checks on the Project M space.

Key Task Areas:

Regular Program Support

To support with session delivery across the range of youth programs - times will vary but will include evenings and weekends from time to time

Contribute to planning and logistics Project M Support

Attend and support Project M sessions weekly (Thursday 6:30-8:30) Attendance is required 3 weeks out of 4 in a month.

Assist with attendance monitoring, safeguarding reporting, and showcases planning and delivery

Be a fire warden for Project M space and a duty manager for the theatre, specific to evacuating youth groups as necessary. Collaboration & Networking

Attend and support cross-sector in person youth partnership meetings (e.g., VCSE, CYP collaborations) These may take place either locally or at other venues across Northamptonshire

Represent the youth voice in relevant forums and share learning with the Core team

Films – Comps will be made available to colleagues for films at Northampton Film house where availability allows. A weekly email will be sent out to all colleagues providing a list of eligible film screenings. The £1.00 booking fee will apply.

Requirements

Essential Experience:

Experience of working with young people aged 12–25 in a creative, educational, or community setting

Experience of working in a team and supporting youth program delivery

Experience of safeguarding practices and procedures

Essential Knowledge/Qualifications:

Awareness of youth issues and challenges affecting young people today

Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion

Essential Skills/Abilities:

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks

Excellent verbal and written communication

Confident working independently and with initiative

Passion for working with young people and supporting creative opportunities

Willingness to learn and take part in training

Commitment to collaboration, inclusivity and wellbeing

Desirable Experience:

Experience working on creative projects or events

Experience of delivering or supporting creative youth programs

Familiarity of safeguarding different youth age groups

Desirable Knowledge/Qualifications:

Knowledge of the local youth/cultural sector

Understanding of child protection and GDPR

Desirable Skills/Abilities:

Familiarity with Google suite, Outlook and other IT data management systems
