Description
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant in Bridgwater. This work is available 5 days a week and the hours are 8:30-15:30. No previous experience is required, as you will learn 'on the job'. The children identified have a variety of SEND needs, mostly autism. We can provide some training, but initiative and resilience are key skills needed for this type of work.
Working closely with teaching staff, you will support the pupil during the day with their lessons, and also in their interactions with their peers. You would be using Autism Teaching Techniques such as "Now and Next". This work is one-to-one, working with one identified pupil. However, at times, there will be a need for you to work with a small group of children; for example to help with reading.
If you have worked in a care setting, security, probation or social services, you may have key transferable skills.
If you are sporty, crafty, or creative, then we want to hear from you.
Please do get in touch, if this type of work interests you, we are always available for an informal chat.
Responsibilities and duties:
· Supporting 1:1 in class
· Help the students to access the curriculum and tailor the lesson activity to their level of ability
· Build a strong relationship with the pupils and teaching staff to ensure that the pupils are achieving their potential
· Be a support to the students when they are struggling, and help them to calm down and remain focussed
Who We're Looking For:
- Emotionally resilient and able to stay calm in challenging situations
- Strong communicator with a positive and proactive mindset
- Able to build rapport with young people, particularly those who may struggle to trust adults
- Previous experience isn't essential, but backgrounds in youth work, care, mental health, sport, or support work are valuable
Why Join Five Education?
- A supportive consultant who will help find the right school for you
- Ongoing behaviour support training and CPD
- Opportunity to progress into a permanent role
- Free, high-quality SEND and behaviour management training throughout the year
Your daily rate of pay would be £89.66* but with a potential to earn more based on your level of experience.
*Including holiday pay
Pay: Five Education operates a PAYE payroll; this is the most transparent way to be paid with no hidden fees such as admin fee or employers NI. Please note pay rate is for illustration and does include holiday pay.
DBS: If you do not have a non-voluntary enhanced DBS on the update service, we will need to process a new one at a cost of £62.70. This will be refunded after 20 days of work, providing you have put the new DBS on the update service.
Vetting: Five Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all of the staff we employ to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be required to undergo checks including reference checks, TRA checks and will need to have a DBS; there will also be a face-to-face interview.
We welcome and encourage job applications from people of all backgrounds. We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates as they are currently under-represented at this level
