Situated in the lovely setting of Glengorse Estate in Battle, East Sussex, ISP School provides specialist education for 7–18–year–olds with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), communication and interaction needs, and cognition and learning needs.

We are looking for an inspirational qualified teacher who has experience working with vulnerable children and is prepared to teach or cover lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 as and when required.

Role Responsibilities

We are seeking a caring, forward–thinking leader to join our team as Deputy Headteacher. In this role, you will:

Champion a strong safeguarding culture by leading safeguarding practice, supporting vulnerable pupils and families and ensuring staff understand and fulfil their safeguarding responsibilities in line with statutory requirementsProvide strategic leadership for behaviour and attendance, using data–driven approaches to monitor trends, reduce persistent absence, promote positive behaviour and ensure pupils are able to access and benefit from learningEnsure high–quality teaching and learning across the school, with a focus on inclusion and differentiated instruction for SEND studentsAssess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of pupilsParticipate in arrangements for preparing pupils for external examinationsContribute to whole–school organisation, strategy and curriculum developmentContribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school's policies, practices and procedures to support the school's values and visionWork with others on curriculum and pupil development to secure co–ordinated outcomesUse your expertise to promote a therapeutic approach to behaviour and emotional wellbeingCollaborate with staff, parents and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupilsManage and support staff teams, fostering a culture of cooperation, flexibility and continuous improvementWork closely with other leaders within the Polaris Community to share good practice and ensure alignment with our ethosRequirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience in SENDExperience of delivering a high–quality curriculum with a focus on supporting young people with SENDExperience of leading and managing teams within a compassionate, therapeutic environmentExcellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work inclusively with staff, pupils and familiesA proactive and adaptable attitude, with the ability to establish and develop systems and processes aligned with the school's values and ethosPrevious senior or middle leadership experienceWhat We Offer
