Overview

Our client is a well-established charity based in West London, seeking an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to join them on a 6-month interim basis. This role will provide expert ER support during a period of increased casework and organisational change, ensuring outcomes are fair, consistent, and aligned with employment legislation and best practice.

You will work closely with managers and the wider HR team, offering pragmatic, confident advice while maintaining the charity's values and people-centred culture.

Key Responsibilities

Provide end-to-end management of complex employee relations casework, including:Disciplinary and grievance processesAbsence management (short- and long-term)Performance and capability issuesBullying, harassment, and conduct mattersAdvise and coach managers on ER matters, ensuring confidence and consistency in approachDraft and review correspondence, investigation reports, outcome letters, and management guidanceConduct and/or support formal investigations, including witness interviews and evidence gatheringEnsure all ER processes comply with employment legislation, internal policies, and best practiceSupport the implementation and review of ER policies and procedures, recommending improvements where appropriateLiaise with trade unions or employee representatives as requiredContribute to a positive employee experience while balancing organisational risk and pragmatismSkills & Experience Required

Proven experience in an Employee Relations-focused role, ideally within a charity, public sector, or values-led organisationStrong knowledge of UK employment law and ER best practiceExperience managing high-volume and complex ER cases independentlyConfident communicator, able to build credibility with stakeholders at all levelsPragmatic, solutions-focused approach with strong judgement and emotional intelligenceAbility to hit the ground running in an interim environmentDesirable

CIPD Level 5 or Level 7 (or equivalent experience)Experience working in unionised environmentsPrevious interim or contract ER experienceWhat's on Offer
