Our client, a freight forwarder is looking for a General Freight Forwarder to join their office in Tilbury.

Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Freight Forwarder with a strong background in ocean freight operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end shipments, coordinating with carriers and clients, and ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of cargo.

Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and manage international ocean freight shipments, including FCL and LCL movementsHandle RoRo shipments (vehicles, machinery, project cargo), including booking, documentation, and trackingLiaise with shipping lines, port agents, and hauliers to ensure smooth cargo movementPrepare and process shipping documentation (e.g. Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, packing lists)Monitor shipments and proactively resolve delays or issuesMaintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and partnersUpdate internal systems with shipment milestones and documentationEnsure high levels of customer service and communication throughout the shipment lifecycleKey RequirementsProven experience in freight forwarding, with a focus on ocean freightHands-on experience with RoRo shipments (vehicles, heavy equipment, or project cargo)Strong knowledge of shipping documentation and customs proceduresExperience working with shipping lines and port operationsStrong organisational and multitasking skillsExcellent communication and customer service abilitiesAbility to work under pressure and meet tight deadlinesProficiency in freight/logistics software and Microsoft Office
