Job Title: Support Worker Children s Residential Services (EBD)

Location: Bexley, London

Residential Home Reports to: Registered Manager / Deputy Manager

Hours: Shift–based (including evenings, weekends, sleep–ins/waking nights as required

Job Purpose

The Support Worker will provide high–quality, child–centred care and support to children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) living in a residential setting. The role focuses on safeguarding, promoting emotional wellbeing, supporting positive behaviour, and helping children achieve stability, independence, and positive outcomes

Key Responsibilities

Provide safe, consistent, and nurturing care in line with individual care plans Build positive, professional relationships with children and young people Safeguard and promote the welfare of children at all times Support emotional wellbeing and manage behaviours using positive and trauma–informed approaches Assist with daily living tasks, personal care, and household routines Encourage participation in education, activities, and community engagement Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with professionals Ensure health, safety, and risk management procedures are followed Person Specification

Essential

Experience working with children or young people with EBD, trauma, or challenging behaviour OR strong transferable skills. A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Ability to remain calm, resilient, and professional under pressure. Good written and verbal communication skills. Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and nights. Enhanced DBS check (Children s Barred List) required. Desirable

NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Children and Young People (or willingness to work towards).

Experience in residential children s homes.

Training in trauma–informed care, de–escalation, or PBS.

Knowledge of the Children s Homes (England) Regulations 2015

Training & Development
