Birmingham City Council is seeking experienced Senior Practitioners to join our Adults Social Care Community Project Teams. This is a key leadership role within frontline practice, supporting high–quality, citizen–focused social work across Adult Social Care. You will hold responsibility for either a complex caseload alongside supervisory duties, or for leading practice improvement activity that enhances outcomes for adults.

Your new role

Deliver high–quality statutory social work practice in line with the Care Act 2014Provide professional oversight, supervision and support to Social Workers within a designated clusterLead on complex cases, risk management and decision–makingSupport staff to meet duties under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and related legislationModel best practice, promote strengths–based approaches and ensure safeguarding procedures are followed.Work collaboratively with partners to ensure joined–up, outcome–focused support for citizensContribute to service improvement, performance monitoring and staff developmentWhat you'll need to succeed

At least 2 years post–qualification permanent experience in Adults Social CareExperience operating at Senior Practitioner level or equivalentStrong working knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 (and Mental Health Act where applicable)Proven capability of supervising staff and managing complex practiceConfidence in professional decision–making, risk assessment and safeguardingAbility to thrive in a fast–paced, public–sector environmentWhat you'll get in return
