About the Setting

This specialist provision is built around a trauma–informed, child–centred ethos, placing strong emphasis on relationships, consistency and emotional wellbeing. Staff work collaboratively to create a safe, structured and predictable environment where pupils feel secure enough to engage in learning.

The Pupils

You will be supporting children and young people across primary and secondary age ranges, all of whom have a range of additional needs and often complex backgrounds.

Pupils may:

Have SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needsHave diagnoses such as ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition) and/or ADHDDisplay behaviours that can be challenging, including dysregulation, verbal outbursts, or disengagementHave experienced trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), or disrupted educationBe working below age–related expectations academicallyStrong, consistent support and a calm, empathetic approach are key to helping these pupils succeed.

The Role

As a Learning Support Worker, you will:

Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needsHelp pupils access learning both inside and outside the classroomSupport behaviour through de–escalation and positive strategiesBuild meaningful relationships that promote trust and engagementWork closely with teaching staff and wider professionalsWhat We're Looking For

Working with children and young people can be both challenging and rewarding!

A good sense of humour and open mindset are really valuable. You will also need:

Experience working with children or young people with additional needs (education, youth/social work, or similar)A calm, patient, and resilient approachA genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learnersStrong communication and teamwork skillsA willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environmentOpportunities Available
