TYGERS OF PAN TANG

Robb Weir is never a man to take what he has for granted. Having led the Tygers since their first album through a plethora of line-up changes, he recognises that the current band are probably the strongest since they were at the forefront of the NWOBHM. The original band, who made 4 albums for MCA records, survived the unexpected departure of Jess Cox to run Neat records and later John Sykes, who was bound for Thin Lizzy and a multi-million seller with Whitesnake. What they didn’t survive was their greatest commercial success with the album ‘The Cage’. However, Weir, ever the optimist, formed a new version of the band to play the old material and write songs that would represent this ‘new’ Tygers. The backbone of the band - Craig Ellis on drums together with Jack Meille on vocals have now been together for considerably longer than the first Tygers and were joined by Francesco Marras on guitar and Huw Holding on bass for their 2023 album ‘Bloodlines’. 2024 saw the release of both a new live album ‘Live Blood’ and reimagining of the album that put the Tygers back on the rock and roll rails - ‘Animal Instinct’. A new album is expected in 2026.

DEMON

The original line-up was completed by former Hunter members Les Hunt (Lead guitar), Chris Ellis (bass), and John Wright (drums). The band were signed by Mike Stone's Clay records in 1980 and licensed to Carrere records to join their stable of metal bands. Their debut album, *Night of the Demon*, was released in 1981.

After their 1982 follow-up album, *The Unexpected Guest*, the band experimented beyond the NWOBHM sound and moved the band in a more melodic direction whilst still retaining the more traditional heavy metal black magic lyrical style.

In 1983, Demon took a change in direction. *The Plague* marked a swing towards a more progressive sound, adding the keyboards of session musician Andy Richards to the album's sound. Lyrically the band also changed direction, switching to a more overtly political style that was to characterise their albums for the rest of their career.

The following album, the Pink Floyd influenced *British Standard Approved* (1984), released on the small independent Clay label, was not a huge commercial success, and with the death of Mal Spooner later that year, it appeared that the band would soon fold. At this point, the band had recruited a permanent keyboard player and co-songwriter in Steven Watts.

Hill reunited the band with new members in 2001, and released a new album called *Spaced Out Monkey*. The band has since gone on to release a further three albums: *Better the Devil You Know* (2005), *Unbroken* (2012), and their latest release *Cemetery Junction*, which was released on 28 October 2016.

All of the band's post-reunion releases have received positive reviews from the press, leading the band to go on and play many festivals across Europe - including the Bang Your Head festival and Sweden Rock Festival - but rarely embark upon full tours. The band toured with Magnum singer Bob Catley in 2005, and in 2018 celebrated the 35th anniversary of *The Unexpected Guest* by touring the UK, playing all of the songs from the album, plus some other classics.

VOLTSTORM

Formed in London in 2019, Voltstorm is a heavy metal force forged through years of relentless hard work, self-belief, and a deep respect for the classic tradition of the genre. Fronted by vocalist and songwriter John D. Prasec, the band quickly earned a reputation for their powerful live performances and a sound that fuses soaring vocals, hard-hitting riffs, and socially conscious lyrics.

Their 2022 self-titled EP introduced them to the underground scene, but it was their debut full-length Break the Silence (2024, L.B.C. Records), produced by Alessio Garavello, that solidified Voltstorm as one of the most exciting new names in European heavy metal. The album earned widespread acclaim, including a rare 10/10 review from both Powerplay Magazine and Metalized Magazine, praising the record’s ambition, energy, and timeless spirit.

2025 marked a turning point with their main stage appearance at Hard Rock Hell Festival UK, performing alongside legends Geoff Tate, Ronnie Romero, and Kee Marcello. This milestone was followed by the release of Live Silence, a digital-only live album capturing Voltstorm’s raw, unfiltered intensity on stage.
With tours alongside Tygers of Pan Tang and Demon, Voltstorm now stand as one of the new torchbearers of heavy metal carrying forward the legacy of the past while carving their own path for the future
