Position Overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our team in the South West Area, mainly at our Wickwar Quarry. You'll be responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving mechanical systems, machinery and production equipment to ensure maximum reliability and efficiency. You will conduct routine maintenance, diagnosing mechanical faults, and implementing preventative and corrective maintenance programs to minimise downtime and optimise performance.

Key Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on mechanical equipment, machinery, and systemsDiagnose and troubleshoot mechanical defectsReplace or repair worn or defective components such as bearings, shafts, pumps, and valvesCarry out emergency breakdown repairs promptly to minimise production lossDevelop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to reduce unplanned downtimeMonitor equipment performance and use predictive maintenance techniques Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment historyAssist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of new machinery and equipmentEnsure mechanical systems are installed according to manufacturer specifications and safety regulationsSupport mechanical maintenance projects and continuous improvement initiativesWork closely with production and electricians to ensure smooth plant operationsFollow all company health, safety, and environmental policies and ensure compliance with legal and industry standardsConduct risk assessments and implement safe working practicesReport hazards, near misses, and incidents promptlyProvide technical support and training to operators and junior maintenance colleaguesCommunicate effectively with supervisors and management regarding equipmentSkills, Knowledge and ExpertiseONC / HNC / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related fieldProven experience in mechanical maintenance within the construction industryStrong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating machineryFull UK driving licenceNVQ Level 3 or 4 in Health and Safety and/or NEBOSH qualification is advantageousExcellent mechanical and diagnostic skillsStrong problem-solving and decision-making abilityGood communication and teamwork skillsAttention to detail and commitment to quality and safetyBenefitsA tailored, competitive salaryCompany Pension Scheme25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays on top Share Saver Scheme participationCompany Life Assurance SchemeAccess to our Employee Assistance Programme for health and wellbeing support Discounts on a wide range of products through our employee benefits platformBroad learning opportunities and career progression pathways.Diversity Statement: At Breedon Group, we are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where diversity is valued.
