Our leading global consulting, construction engineering client is Commercial Leads on a permanent basis to support Severn Trent Water capital delivery projects based out of Tamworth.

This is an exciting time to join the consultancies new Project, Programme, PMO and Commercial Management Capability in the United Kingdom which is undergoing a transformative phase.

The Commercial Lead will oversee high-value contracts in the Water & Environment sector, with opportunities to expand into Defence and Nuclear. This is your opportunity to shape delivery outcomes, drive commercial excellence, and influence the future of sustainable infrastructure.

You'll lead a team of commercial professionals across multi-million-pound contracts. You'll provide strategic oversight from procurement through to close-out, ensuring alignment with project timelines, budgets, and risk profiles. You'll also engage with senior stakeholders, regulators, and delivery partners to ensure commercial integrity and performance. This role is ideal for a commercially astute leader with deep infrastructure experience and a passion for driving value, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Build, lead and develop the commercial and cost management function into a high performing teamSupport the work winning team to review and identify risks and accountabilities within tender packs and contractual termsPrepare, develop and implement commercial solutions to support work winningLead commercial delivery across complex, multi-workstream programmesOversee contract execution, supplier performance, and risk mitigationEnsure compliance with NEC3/4 and FIDIC contracts, UK law, and regulatory frameworksGuide procurement strategy and contract preparation across all phasesSupport feasibility studies, benchmarking, and value managementLead cost planning, estimating, and final cost plan presentationManage post-contract cost variances, valuations, and change controlOversee final account negotiation and post-project evaluationAct as a trusted interface with clients, consultants, and delivery teamsCollaborate with senior leadership to shape client-focused bidsProvide commercial insight to strengthen proposal strategyMaintain a robust database of lessons learned and bid outcomesDrive continuous improvement across commercial processes and tools

Skills/qualifications/experience

Strong financial modelling experienceExcellent client facing and supply chain facing skillsExpert commercial acumen and problem solving skillsExperience of managing teamsEnthusiasm and ability to inspire and motivate peopleExtensive experience in water, environment, defence, or nuclear sectorsStrong knowledge of CDM regulations and risk managementNEC3/4 contract expertise (Options A, C, E essential)Experience with ECI/ESI in design & build programmesValid CSCS card; Water Hygiene Card desirableLine management experience and ability to mentor junior QSsWillingness to work on-site a minimum of 3 days per weekRight to work in the UK; role subject to client interview and acceptance

Benefits
