Description

Price Reduced - Very Rare Phase 1 Citroen Xsara 5dr Hatchback with the 2. 0HDi (90bhp) engine. This is a Citroen UK car, unsure whether it was a company car or just a pool car. Comes with original plates also identifying it as a Citroen UK car. The cambelt was changed approx 4 years ago, so good for another 6 years. New centre exhaust & backbox replaced last year. Tuning box fitted to give a bit more oomph & mpg, i have managed 58mpg & it easily returns around 50mpg with normal driving. It can be deactivated if you're concerned about it, i'm guessing it probably adds a modest 10bhp, so don't worry about the engine blowing up as it's not one of those that overboosts the fueling and destroy's the gearbox or engine. This car is surprisingly fun to drive and even better is very comfy compared to modern cars. Dare i say, it's better than my hydraulic C5 that's replaced it.
There are no warning lights on the dash when driving & all the correct bulbs light up and extinguish. Comes with ABS which works fine when required, i had both front CV joints replaced to ensure the ABS continued to work fine. I had 2 brand new headlights fitted to make driving at night better, i did originally have some led lights fitted which were fantastic and i'd highly recommend using, but have put it back to standard with some normal bulbs. I am a member of various Citroen forums and facebook groups. It has won a couple of awards at the Citroen Car Club shows. Being an LX spec, it doesn't have aircon, so less to go wrong? It does have a large fully working sunroof which doesn't leak. It's got the handy air diffuser that pops up once fully opened to reduce noise and turbulence. I've fitted a fully refurbished Clarion stereo that does actually play cassette tapes. It replaced the original stereo which when i took it apart was knackered and would never play a cassette without warbling away. The sound when i got the car was crap, turns out that the 2 front door speakers were missing & the 2 rear door speakers were knackered. I've replaced them with some decent speakers, so 4 good quality one's, don't ask what make as i've forgotten, but possibly Alpine & some other decent one's. This is a 6 speaker system & sounds great, miles better than the factory stuff. The 2 front rubber floor mats are genuine Citroen one's, with a couple of rear fabric cheapies in the rear. The electric mirror switch was replaced, so now it has a working electric psgr side mirror, the driver side was always a manual operated one. Good news, this car has 4 airbags for safety. I've fitted a K&N air filter, again very hard to find, not for performance but to save money as it can be cleaned rather than chucking away paper air filters regularly, not exactly eco friendly tbh. There was no engine cover when i got the car, so because the car is so rare, i managed to source a replacement which was then customised to fit. I also fitted some superior rubber mounting kit for the engine cover to sit onto, unlike the genuine citroen one's which only last so long. Fitted are 4 matching, yes i kid you not matching tyres, they are Riken Allstar 2b2 185/ 60/ 14's, all with good tread & no damage & decent performance ratings, they've been rotated around to ensure consistent wear. Brake Discs & pads along with handbrake cables have been done in my ownership. Rear wiper motor didn't work, so it was replaced and works a treat. Brand new exhaust centre pipe and rear box fitted last year. Approx 3 years ago i got the high pressure fuel sensor replaced. Driver side door had a damaged door seal rubber, replaced with a genuine citroen part. Serviced annually & i have part service history.
What's wrong with it then, some lacquer peel on the bonnet, the wing mirror paint has faded on both sides. On psgr side, front of sill as per the picture has some small amount of rust. There are a few dents, if i have time and the prices aren't stupid i may get the dents sorted, they aren't terrible and you can only see them when you're up close or at a certain angle, they aren't the usual fist sized dings that you can see from a mile away. As this was my daily driver for nearly 5 years, i kept up to date with repairs and maintenance. This year the front wipers stopped working, the plug connector was cleaned up & they work as intended. I recently realised that the garage i'd used damaged the front scuttle where the wipers pop up from, so this would need to be sorted for perfection as it now has some movement due to the lugs that held it place being snapped, why can't garages ever own up to stuff like this, grrrr. The car does come with central locking which does work, just not from the fob. I took the fob apart and the micro switches were missing, so probably can be repaired. The driver side door lock is worn out, so you have to open the car via the key from the psgr side. I do have a full lock kit that will come with the car inc ignition part as well, so it could all be replaced, this is uber rare & expensive itself. The car was valeted a few months ago but has been used since, so it's generally clean and no rubbish in the car, unlike a lot of stuff being sold these day's. The car has a valid MOT until 3 December 2026. Some brand new spares will also come with the car which are worth a few quid. Please note that the mileage will increase as i'm using the car.
