Read on for an overview of the partner organisations Gumtree works with to safeguard users.
Combatting Fraud
Action Fraud works with the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) and is run by the City of London Police. Action Fraud is the national reporting centre for cybercrime and fraud and covers England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
To help combat fraud and internet crime, we also work with:
Jobs
JobsAware was created by the Metropolitan Police as a non-profit organisation to help combat job scams for both job seekers and recruiters. JobsAware works with other organisations to help combat scams and exploitation – these include the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Home Office, as well as National Trading Standards, the City of London Police and Action Fraud.
Animal Welfare
The Pet Advertising Advisory Group (PAAG) comprises of trade associations, animal welfare groups and veterinary bodies. PAAG raises awareness about the treatment of pets and the responsible buying and selling of animals advertised for sale or rehoming. Through our work with the PAAG, we have introduced safety protocols that follow their industry-endorsed minimum standards for the sale of animals online.
To help address the safe treatment of animals, we also work with:
Vehicle Sales
The Vehicle Safe Trading Advisory Group (VSTAG) combines online car sales companies and the police to help protect people from fraud when buying and selling used vehicles. The VSTAG industry forum offers advice, develops best practice guidelines and works with law enforcement agencies.
