Description
2011 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 Petrol Manual – 11 Months MOT – £650 ONO
Good little runaround, cheap to insure and run. Starts and drives fine, used daily until last week. It does need some repairs done; if you're a mechanic, you could probably do it yourself.
121,000 miles
1.2 petrol manual
5 door
MOT until 31st March 2027
Mechanical notes: PLEASE READ
Small coolant leak present – hasn’t been investigated, mentioned in advisories. MOT mentions a small oil leak, I've never had any visible signs of that. The main cause for concern to me is when you pull away and reach roughly second gear, it will whine at you for about 5 or 6 seconds. From my understanding, it could well be the water pump, so depending on the distance, it might be better to arrange a tow. (Had this checked by two mechanics who confirmed the timing chain is healthy, given age and mileage, likely a tensioner) When the aux belt was replaced, the mechanic explained to me that the squeal would happen again if the coolant leak wasn't seen to. - It has, but it's intermittent; sometimes it doesn't happen at all. For ref, they replaced the belt only, not the tensioners or pulleys.
The service due light has been stuck on for a long time, unfortunately, as this was my first car I never had it serviced. You can manually switch off, but it will come back on after a couple of miles.
I had the starter motor replaced in feb, and the rear driver side tyre was just replaced also. Not seen to any of the advisories sadly except the tyre.
Condition:
Bodywork has some age-related marks, scrapes, and a dent on the boot
Rear light cracked, but still passes MOT. Scrapes shown in the images.
Overall, a cheap and usable car, ideal first car or runaround. It would also be a good stopgap car. I was driving it around 30 miles each day, and it did so without issue. Had it on the bypass just last week without issue, handled perfectly. But as I say, I don't know how serious the intermittent mechanical squeal is.
For full transparency, the interior probably needs a good hoover. I've done my best, and it's not dirty by any means, just well used. If travelling over 40 miles might be better to tow, as I'm not a mechanic, I'm not sure if the noise it makes when pulling away is a cause for concern or not. It stops after four seconds every time and does not return once the engine is warm.
