You will be working for a local government organisation.

Your new role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Project Manager to lead and deliver a diverse portfolio of projects which are aligned to the LGR (local government reorganisation) taking place across the region.

You will work across departments, stakeholders, and external partners to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional with strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills to make a meaningful impact in the public sector.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the planning, execution, monitoring and closure of assigned projects.

Develop and maintain project documentation including business cases, plans, risk logs, and benefits realisation frameworks.

Ensure projects adhere to PRINCE2 / AMP methodologies and governance requirements

Manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation effectively.

Coordinate internal teams and engage with stakeholders, partners, and contractors.

Report progress to senior managers and project boards, ensuring transparency and accuracy.

Identify and mitigate risks, issues, and dependencies to keep projects on track.

Promote continuous improvement and contribute to the development of project management practices across the council.What you'll need to succeed

You will be an organised and confident professional able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a strong customer- and community-focused approach. You will ideallt have previous local government experience and understand how the project lifescycle works within this environment.

Essential criteria:

PRINCE2 Practitioner / AMP qualification

Proven track record of delivering projects in a complex organisation, ideally within the public sector

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

Strong analytical, planning, and problem‑solving abilities

Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Experience in budget management and business case developmentWhat you'll get in return

£350 - £400 per day

Hybrid working (1-2 days per week to 1 per fortnight depending on project needs)
