Ocean Import Operator

Location: Manchester

Salary: Up to GBP40,000 (depending on experience)

Role Overview: We are seeking a detail–oriented and motivated Ocean Import Operator to join our expanding team. The ideal candidate will manage the full import process, ensuring shipments are handled efficiently, accurately, and in full compliance with industry regulations. Key Responsibilities Oversee end–to–end ocean import operations, from vessel arrival to final delivery. Coordinate with shipping lines, hauliers, customs agents, and customers to ensure smooth cargo movement. Prepare and process import documentation, including customs entries and compliance paperwork. Monitor shipments, troubleshoot delays, and keep customers updated throughout. Ensure accuracy of data entry and maintain internal systems with up–to–date shipment information. Provide quotations and support internal teams with ocean import knowledge as needed. Ensure full compliance with HMRC requirements and international trade regulations. Build and maintain strong customer relationships with timely, professional communication. Skills & Experience Required Previous experience in ocean import or sea freight operations (essential). Strong understanding of customs procedures and import regulations. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks effectively. Good IT skills, including use of freight systems and Microsoft Office. Organised, accurate, and proactive in problem solving. Strong team player with the ability to work independently when required.
