Environmental Health Officer

Description

Environmental Health Officer to join a local authority on an initial 3-month temporary contract. The role requires 2 days a week on site.

The Opportunity:

The council is looking for a qualified and experienced EHO with strong knowledge of Private Sector Housing, able to deal with complaints and HMOs. Experience with Statutory Nuisance issues would be a bonus. The role is primarily complaints-driven, with appropriate enforcement action including the serving of notices.

Key Responsibilities:

* Investigate complaints and requests for service

* Ensure environmental matters are recorded and pursued to secure compliance

* Support and comply with quality practices per corporate/departmental policy

* Attend and advise Area Committees where required

* Observe Council and Directorate safety policies

* Promote the Council's Equal Opportunities and Safeguarding Procedures

Experience Required:

* Degree in Environmental xjnqpsq Health or equivalent (Diploma in EH) - desirable

* Registration with the Environmental Health Registration Board - desirable

* Experience securing regulatory compliance through various means

* Statutory nuisance investigation experience

* Planning and Licensing consultation response experience
