About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, proactive, and experienced **SEN Teaching Assistant (Learning Support Assistant)** to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in **Leyton**. This is a full-time position ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with **Special Educational Needs (SEN)** and committed to helping them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

You will work closely with pupils who have a range of additional needs including **Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)**, **Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)**, **speech and language delays**, and other learning challenges. The successful candidate will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and supportive learning environment tailored to each child's unique needs.

Key Responsibilities

- Individual and Group Support:

Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN, ensuring their individual learning goals are met.

- Collaborative Planning:

Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised learning strategies and differentiated activities.

- Promoting Development:

Encourage pupil's academic progress, emotional well-being, and social development by fostering confidence, independence, and resilience.

- Behavioural Support:

Use a trauma-informed and nurturing approach to support positive behaviour and engagement in learning.

- Adaptation of Resources:

Modify learning materials and classroom environments to meet the diverse needs of pupils.

- Monitoring and Reporting:

Contribute to assessments, progress reviews, and the development of behaviour support plans and Education Health Plans (EHPs).

Requirements

- Previous experience working with children with SEN in a school or educational setting.

- Strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, and speech and language needs.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to supporting children.

- Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant Diploma) are desirable but not essential.
