Job Advert SEN Tutor (Sefton)

Prospero Teaching is seeking experienced SEN Tutors in and around Sefton to deliver high-quality 1:1 tuition in Maths and English from KS1 through to KS4.

This is a part-time, flexible role (approx. 25 hours per week, Monday and Friday between 9am and 3pm) an excellent opportunity for qualified teachers looking to return to teaching, or retired teachers who still want to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable children.

Role Details:

Location: Sefton and surrounding areas (local travel required)

Hours: Approx. 25 per week, Monday to Friday (flexible within 9am and 3pm)

Pay: GBP27GBP30 per hour, depending on experience

Contract: Ongoing, part-time, flexible

Subjects: Maths and English (KS1 and KS4, depending on tutor preference)

Start date: ASAP

Requirements:

Strong SEN experience (minimum 2 years preferred) essential

Experience teaching/tutoring within the UK curriculum

QTS desirable (but not essential if strong SEN background)

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Ability to travel across Sefton and surrounding areas

Caring, patient, and empathetic approach to working with vulnerable pupils

Confident delivering both Maths and English

Further Information:

This role is a fantastic chance to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable pupils, many with SEN. You'll be delivering tailored 1:1 sessions that focus on building structure, confidence, and academic progress.

A therapeutic and flexible approach is often required to re-engage pupils and adapt learning to their individual needs. Tutors will also be asked to complete weekly progress reports to support monitoring and development.

With flexibility, meaningful work, and pay between £27 - £30 per hour, this role is perfect for teachers looking to make an impact while working part-time.
