Tradewind Recruitment have multiple SEMH Teaching Assistant positions available across North London schools. These positions offer the opportunity to build a rewarding career in education while supporting vulnerable children to reach their full potential.

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant you will be responsible for the below:

Providing 1:1 and small group support to children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs including anxiety, attachment difficulties, trauma, behavioural challenges, and emotional dysregulationSupporting the implementation of individualised behaviour support plans and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)Using positive behaviour management and de–escalation strategies to help children regulate emotions and engage with learningAdapting resources and activities to meet diverse emotional and behavioural needsSupporting children's social and emotional development, helping them build confidence, resilience and independenceWorking collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs and external professionals including educational psychologists, counsellors and mental health practitionersTo join us and be successful in this role you will ideally need:

A genuine passion for working with children and commitment to inclusive educationPatience, empathy and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with children who face emotional and behavioural challengesTransferrable skills from roles such as care work, youth work, mentoring, sports coaching, childcare or similar supportive positionsStrong communication skills and ability to remain calm and consistent when managing challenging behaviorWillingness to learn SEMH–specific strategies and undertake training (full training and support provided)Relevant qualifications in SEMH, childcare, health and social care or education (desirable but not essential – we value experience and attitude)Current Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (where applicable) and satisfactory professional referencesComplete CV detailing employment history for the previous 10 years where availableValid right to work in the UKWhy choose Tradewind?
