SEN Teaching Assistant - Specialist Schools (PMLD, Autism & SLCN)

Location: Essex border / North East London (Havering, Romford, Harold Hill & Woodford Green)

Aspire People is recruiting compassionate, resilient and proactive Teaching Assistants to join specialist schools on the Essex border. These are rewarding roles supporting children and young people with some of the most complex needs, with full training and a strong team around you.

Settings include:

All-through specialist provision for pupils with PMLD (profound and multiple learning difficulties)

All-through specialist provision for pupils with autism and speech, language and communication needs (SLCN)

Key Responsibilities:

Support teachers in delivering engaging, sensory and accessible lessons tailored to individual needs.

Work 1:1 or with small groups to boost communication, independence and confidence.

Assist with personal care, mobility and medical routines where required (PMLD settings).

Use positive behaviour strategies to promote a calm, safe and structured environment.

Help prepare visual supports, sensory resources and adapted materials.

Work closely with families, therapists and other professionals.

Requirements:

Experience supporting children or young people with SEND is desirable but not essential. Full training and support will be given.

A genuine passion for supporting pupils with complex needs.

Good literacy and numeracy skills; relevant qualifications or a degree are a plus.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils, families and staff.

A caring, patient, calm and resilient approach.

Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
