This opportunity suits a calm SEN Teaching Assistant who can build trust, maintain consistent boundaries and support pupils with social, emotional or behavioural needs.

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

Pay: £85.50-£110 per day, depending on experience and assignment.

Location: Havering, East London.

Start: ASAP, following registration and safeguarding checks.

Contract: Flexible supply and longer-term opportunities, depending on vacancies.Your Role as a SEN Teaching Assistant

You will support pupils one-to-one or in small groups to regulate emotions, follow routines and participate more independently, using agreed behaviour and support plans.

Build positive relationships and reinforce clear, consistent expectations.

Use agreed de-escalation strategies and recognise triggers or early signs of distress.

Break learning into manageable steps and help pupils return to lessons after difficulties.

Record relevant observations and work closely with teachers and pastoral staff.What We're Looking For in a SEN Teaching Assistant

Experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, or credible transferable experience in behaviour support, youth work, care or mentoring.

A SEN Teaching Assistant who remains composed, uses sound judgement and follows school guidance.

Experience supporting SEMH needs is advantageous; any specialist strategies must reflect your training.
