PRU Teaching Assistant - Luton

Are you an experienced PRU Teaching Assistant with a passion for making a real difference in young people's lives? Do you have a strong background in managing challenging behaviour and supporting students with additional needs?

We're working with a dynamic Pupil Referral Unit in Luton that is looking for a confident, resilient and committed Teaching Assistant to join their team from September.

About the PRU Teaching Assistant role:

Support students aged 11-16 who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education

Work closely with teaching staff, behaviour mentors, and pastoral teams to deliver tailored support

Help build trust and positive relationships with students, using de-escalation techniques and behaviour management strategies

Assist with academic learning, social development, and emotional wellbeing

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Proven experience working as a TA in a PRU, SEMH or alternative provision setting

Strong understanding of behavioural needs and strategies to manage challenging situations

A calm, empathetic and assertive approach

Ability to commute to Luton

Team player attitude and the ability to build strong rapport with young people

Restraint training or Team Teach certification (desirable but not essential)
