Description

To deliver high–quality teaching, learning and assessment across Motor Vehicle programmes, supporting students to develop the practical skills, technical knowledge and professional behaviours required for successful progression into the automotive industry. The post holder will contribute to curriculum development, student achievement, and the maintenance of a safe and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons across Motor Vehicle programmes.

Assess, monitor and record student progress, providing constructive feedback to support achievement.

Develop learning materials that meet awarding body and industry requirements.

Support students in achieving qualifications, personal targets and career aspirations.

Maintain a safe workshop and classroom environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.

Participate in curriculum development and quality improvement activities.

Liaise with employers, industry partners and stakeholders to ensure curriculum relevance.

Attend departmental meetings, professional development activities and college events as required.

Promote equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding practices at all times.

Undertake administrative duties associated with teaching and assessment.

Person Specification

Relevant qualifications in Motor Vehicle Engineering, Automotive Technology, Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or a related discipline.

Strong industry background within the Motor Vehicle sector.

Previous teaching, training or assessing experience is desirable; however, applicants with significant and relevant industry experience will also be considered.

Up–to–date knowledge of the Motor Vehicle industry and current automotive technologies.

Excellent practical and technical skills within vehicle maintenance and repair.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to motivate, support and engage learners of varying abilities.

Effective organisational and administrative skills.

Commitment to delivering outstanding teaching and learning.

A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, Certificate in Education or equivalent is desirable.

Candidates without a teaching qualification must be willing to work towards one where applicable.

Enhanced DBS check required.

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults.
