Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Brent

Location: Brent, North-West London

Contract: Full-time, temporary

Start date: 1 September 2026

Pay: £100–£120 per day, dependent on experience

Key stages: KS1 and KS2

Teach Now is recruiting an engaging Higher Level Teaching Assistant for a diverse and ambitious primary school in Brent. This role will suit someone who thrives in a busy school community, enjoys working across year groups and can combine excellent pupil support with confident whole-class delivery.

You will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning. On some days, you may lead a class using work prepared by the teacher; on others, you will run focused interventions, support pupils with special educational needs or work alongside teachers to raise attainment.

The Role

You will be expected to:

Provide short-term class cover across KS1 and KS2

Deliver structured lessons and maintain pupils’ engagement

Run evidence-based literacy and numeracy interventions

Support pupils who speak English as an additional language

Modify resources and explanations for pupils with SEND

Reinforce the school’s expectations for behaviour, effort and attendance

Monitor pupil participation and communicate progress to teaching staff

Contribute to planning meetings and discussions about pupil support

Help create an inclusive classroom in which pupils feel safe and capable

About You

You will bring:

HLTA status, Level 4 training or substantial experience at HLTA level

Successful experience in a primary-school setting

The ability to lead a class calmly and professionally

Secure knowledge of the KS1 and KS2 curriculum

Confidence supporting pupils from a wide range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds

Strong written and verbal communication

A flexible approach and willingness to support different classes

The right to work in the UK

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one

Two recent and satisfactory professional references
