Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

Do you thrive in dynamic environments where every day brings a new challenge and the chance to make a real difference?

We are working with a specialist SEMH school catering for pupils aged 5-16 (Primary to Year 11) who require additional support with their social, emotional, and behavioural development. The school offers a nurturing, inclusive environment designed to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and build confidence both in and out of the classroom.

The Role

As a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant, you'll be part of the school's dedicated pastoral and support team.

This is not a classroom-based role - you'll move throughout the school, responding to situations as they arise and supporting pupils and staff to maintain a calm and positive learning environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing on-the-spot support to pupils displaying challenging behaviour.

Using de-escalation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills to promote positive outcomes.

Building trusting relationships with pupils to help them re-engage with learning.

Assisting in the implementation of behaviour support plans and safeguarding procedures.

On occasion, using positive handling techniques (with full training provided) to ensure the safety of pupils and staff.About You

We're looking for someone who:

Has experience supporting SEND / SEMH pupils in an educational or youth setting.

Remains calm under pressure and can think quickly to de-escalate challenging situations.

Has strong communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills.

Understands the importance of boundaries, consistency, and respect in working with young people.

(Ideally) holds Team Teach or similar positive handling training - though full training can be provided. What's on Offer

A supportive, well-resourced school with a strong and caring staff team.

Ongoing professional development opportunities in SEMH and behaviour management.

A chance to make a tangible difference in the lives of young people who need it most.

Competitive daily rates and long-term potential
