About the Client/Child: Sam is a bright, articulate, and creative 19-year-old who enjoys wildlife photography, nature, Lego, and animals. He has been living independently for the past two years and values his autonomy while benefiting from structured support.

Sam has diagnoses of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), and ADHD. He can experience anxiety, depression, and intense emotions, particularly when situations feel out of his control. He is hypersensitive and may become dysregulated when overwhelmed, so it is important that he is involved in decisions and has clear exit options during activities.

The Role at a Glance: Sam will begin a Photography course at the University of Westminster (Harrow campus) in September 2026. He is currently based in St Albans but will soon move to Wembley Park to be closer to the university.

As Sam’s Support Worker, you will provide 1:1 support at home and during university activities, helping him attend classes, complete coursework, and manage anxiety if situations become overwhelming. Your calm presence often provides reassurance and allows him to maintain independence.

The role uses collaborative, low-demand approaches, with careful communication due to Sam’s sensitivity to tone and phrasing. Sam also loves his pets, so supporting him with dog walks and daily pet care routines may be part of the role.

This Job Would Suit: A confident, calm, and resilient support worker who can build trust and provide consistent support. You will understand when to step back and when to offer encouragement, helping Sam maintain independence. A confident driver willing to accompany Sam on photography or nature trips would be ideal.

Why You’ll Love This Role: This role offers the opportunity to support a young adult building independence and pursuing his passion for photography. The job provides variety, outdoor activities, and travel opportunities, and Sam’s home is a short 5-minute walk from Wembley Park station, making commuting flexible.

Recruitment Process: This vacancy is managed through the Snap Care Shortlist Service. Applications are reviewed against the essential criteria before suitable candidates are shared with the client to continue the recruitment process.

Please note: Unfortunately, we are unable to provide sponsorship for any of our vacancies. If a specific gender is required, this is a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.
