Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!

Part of our collection of French copper kitchenalia, we got this from an antique dealer at Chatillon sur Seine, Burgundy and used it as a decorative item but it is actually an antique copper jam pan or bassine a confiture.
A quality artisan piece, I’m advised it dates to around the late 1800s and would probably have been a special commission piece for a chateau kitchen or similar.
At around 4.4 kg it’s a big heavy pan with robust copper riveted bronze handles.
Now worn but very sound, it is watertight, has an attractive patina, and is still useable today.
It also makes a great decorative French Kitchenalia display, planter/ jardiniere, or I’ve recently seen them used as bathroom or kitchen sinks…

In very good sound antique condition with wear, scratches, and staining but no damage - please examine photographs carefully for condition.
This has just had a wash - I’m sure this would polish up well if so required.
The copper is very thick and has no flex to the sides.
The copper surfaces are in good used condition with visible scratches, knocks, staining, and wear, but no damage - see photos.
The upper edge is thickly rolled and sound.
The base is worn and stained but sound and watertight.
It is flat bottomed and stands well.
The bronze handles are large, strong, and sound with no movement at the thick triple copper riveted joints.
I can find no maker’s mark.

Measures approximately:
41 cm diameter to the outside edge,
47.5 cm long handle to handle,
15 cm tall to the pan edge,
19 cm tall to the top of the handles,
weighs about 4.4 kg.
