Description

“Bamburgh” Original Water colour by Ronald Lambert Moore BWS, BSP

An original watercolour of Bamburgh by Ronald Moore. The subject of the painting is described on the reverse of the frame on a small handwritten label as “Bamburgh by Ronald Moore” and is typical or his work.

The painting shows Bamburgh Castle with fishermen in the foreground, taken from the sands. The castle keep, curtain wall and beach are bathed in sunlight with atmospheric storm clounds approaching in the sky above. In the foreground two fishermen in a traditional coble are pulling in their nets. Harkess rocks are bottom right. Signed by the artist lower left.

The watercolour has its original mahogany coloured wooden frame. The frame is glazed and has layers of quality boards and mats with coloured fine art lines that compliment the painting.

Purchased locally in the late 80s/90s I have owned since new. Always hung in room away from direct sunlight and in storage of late. The watercolour is in excellent condition with the colours as strong as the day they were painted. Likewise the frame and mounts.

Picture: 12” high x 21 ½” wide
Frame: 24 ½” high x 33 ½ wide

Ronald Moores scenes of the North East coast are extremely popular and quite rare to the market, this being an excellent example of his watercolour work.

Information about the artist is shown on a typed label on the reverse of the painting. Also a handwritten lable in cursive style giving the name of the painting and number, which may be from the artist himself. See photos.

Artist info: - Ronald Lambert Moore 1927 – 1992. Born in the North East started his career in an art studio. Became an easel painter with a love of Northumberland. His paintings are in collections in many countries. A member of two exclusive societies British Watercolour Society and The British Society of Painters. Moore owned his own gallery in Tynemouth and painted in watercolours and oils. His paintings are very popular and are sought after. More detailed information about the artist can be found the Internet.

I’ve noticed a vertical reflection line on the glass towards the right hand side of the painting. There is no line on the painting itself. It’s a reflection due to the photography taken through glass. If you want more photos I can provide them.
