My personal transformative journey began when I finally admitted I needed help. False pride had held me back, but humility set me free when I reached out. I underwent 6 months of intensive rehabilitation for my drug and alcohol addiction, and am now over 28 years clean and sober and consider my main strength as working with a deep passion and belief. Working primarily from the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) stance along with Transactional Analysis (TA), my own life experience, particularly around recovery, gives me a unique perspective and a greater empathy with my clients. Coming from a non-judgmental approach, I give encouragement but also challenge clients along the way for developmental change and personal growth.

I first approached Avtar based on recommendation having tried other therapists back in 2021. It is not very easy for me to open up on personal issues with strangers as I need to be sure I can trust them fully. Avtar's approach is not that of a typical therapist and it was felt that I would get on better with him. He helped me to beat my alcoholism which became unmanageable when my wife passed away the day before Lockdown in 2020. Working together I remained sober for 3 years and stopped working with Avtar but relapsed in 2024 after my mother passed away. I find working with Avtar very easy and I am able to fully open up and tackle my issues with his help. He is open and honest and tells you as it is.
