Forge (Press) Operative

Are you an experienced operative looking to build your career in a fast–paced, heavy engineering environment? We're recruiting a Forge (Press) Operative to join a dynamic production team, working with high–capacity forging equipment and supporting critical manufacturing processes.

Benefits:

Salary: 14.50 to 17.70 per hour DOE plus 17% shift allowanceLocation: Sheffield, S9Shifts: Days/Afters & Nights Rotating across all 3 shifts Hours: 37.5 hours per weekContract: PermanentThe Role

As a Forge (Press) Operative, you'll be responsible for operating and maintaining machinery used to shape and form metal components to precise specifications. This is a hands–on role requiring attention to detail, safety awareness, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

Operate large–scale presses including 5600T, 1500T, and 600T machinesSupport production processes such as:Andromat operationFurnace and forge control room managementPyrometry checksTrim, punch, and knockdown operationsCarry out visual and dimensional inspections to ensure quality standards are metPerform pre–shift checks (FLT, cranes, hoists, etc.)Assist with tooling and die buildingMaintain housekeeping standards (5S)Complete preventative maintenance checksEnsure strict adherence to health & safety and quality proceduresWhat We're Looking For:

Experience in a forging or pressing environment (desirable)Background in a medium to heavy manufacturing settingAbility to work in a fast–paced production environmentFlexible approach to shift work and varied responsibilitiesBasic knowledge of computer–controlled systemsAbility to read engineering drawings and use measuring equipment (training available)Strong communication skills and a team–oriented mind–setSelf–motivated with the ability to work independentlyFLT/Crane/Hoist experienceKey Behaviours:
