Job Title: Tool Maker / Die Operative

Location: Sheffield

Salary: 14.43 – 15.50 + Shift Allowance

Hours: Rotating Shifts

6:00am – 2:00pm2:00pm – 10:00pmEarly finish on Fridays (6–hour shift)

Overview:

We are recruiting for an experienced toolmaker / die operative for a long established and well respected specialist manufacturing business in Sheffield. In the role you will safely bench, fit, finish and repair forging dies and associated tooling to the required specifications and surface standards. The role involves the accurate removal, blending and polishing of material so that tooling is ready for production, while maintaining dimensional integrity, quality, safety and delivery requirements.

Duties

Bench, fit, finish and polish forging dies and associated tooling to the required drawings and specifications.Use hand tools, pneumatic tools, rotary equipment and polishing media safely and effectively.Remove machining marks, blend radii and profiles, and achieve the specified surface finish without compromising dimensional accuracy.Carry out die spotting, blueing and fitting activities to confirm correct contact and alignment between die halves.Use measuring equipment and gauges to check dimensions, profiles and tooling condition throughout the benching process.Inspect dies for cracks, wear, damage or other defects and report any concerns promptly.Experience

Previous experience in die work or toolmaking within an engineering/manufacturing business.Knowledge of tooling, dies and surface finishing is desirableCompetent in the use of measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers, depth gauges and profile gauges.
