Transport Planner

Cantello Tayler Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Transport Planner in Maidenhead. Our client is looking for an experienced and proactive Transport Planner to manage the daily operations of the busy transport desk. You will be responsible for planning and coordinating the movements of a fleet of HGV trucks and drivers, ensuring the efficient collection and delivery of machinery while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.

This is a hands–on role that requires strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast–paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, schedule and manage daily transport operations for HGV drivers and vehicles.Ensure all collections and deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and on time.Utilise transport management and CRM software for route planning and job tracking.Maintain compliance with RHA, FORS, CPC and all relevant transport regulations.Oversee vehicle maintenance, including MOTs, PMIs, tax and servicing schedules for HGVs and service vans.Monitor driver hours, tachographs and ensure adherence to WTD (Working Time Directive).Liaise with internal departments and external clients to ensure smooth operational flow.Promote and uphold health & safety standards across all transport activities.Support drivers with day–to–day operational needs and problem–solving.

Requirements & Experience

Essential:

Proven experience in transport planning or supervision within a logistics or haulage environment.Strong understanding of HGV operations and UK road transport regulations.Excellent organisational, analytical and problem–solving skills.Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.Proficient in transport planning or CRM software.Desirable:

Working knowledge of RHA, FORS, CPC, and Abnormal Load movements.Experience planning nationwide routes and optimising transport schedules.Understanding of tachographs and WTD compliance.
