Location: Bradford / Wakefield area

Work Area: Wakefield and surrounding areas

Start/Finish: Truck starts and finishes in Bradford

Start Time: Between 8:30am – 9:00am

Shift Length: Average 9 hours per day, with some days around 8 hours and busier days up to 11 hours

Role Type: Multi-drop home delivery / Driver’s Mate

Rate: £90 per day

We are currently looking for a reliable, hardworking and physically fit Driver’s Mate to join a busy UK haulage operation based around West Yorkshire.

This role involves assisting a delivery driver with multi-drop home deliveries, mainly delivering garden furniture, small DIY items (like paint) and household/garden products to customers across the Wakefield area.

The vehicle starts and finishes in Bradford, however the work is mainly in and around Wakefield. The candidate would ideally need to start and finish in Bradford, but alternative arrangements may be possible.

Duties will include:

Assisting the driver with daily multi-drop deliveries
Loading and unloading goods safely
Delivering items to customers’ homes, gardens and hallways where required
Helping move garden furniture and DIY goods with care and professionalism
Using a pallet truck where needed
Providing polite and professional customer service at every delivery
Ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and on time
Keeping the vehicle and goods tidy, organised and secure
Following all health and safety/manual handling procedures

The ideal candidate will be:

Physically fit and strong enough for regular manual handling
Comfortable pushing and pulling a pallet truck
Able to lift, carry and move goods with the help of the driver
Reliable, punctual and hardworking
Well-presented with a professional attitude
Polite and confident when dealing with customers
Able to work as part of a two-person delivery team
Flexible with working hours, as finish times can vary depending on the route
Experienced in delivery, removals, warehouse, driver’s mate or manual work preferred, but not essential
Able to operate a delivery app on phone

Requirements:

Must be able to get to a suitable pick-up point in Bradford / en route to Wakefield
Must be available for morning starts between 8:30am and 9:00am
Must be physically capable of heavy/awkward lifting and manual handling
Must have a good attitude and strong work ethic
Previous driver’s mate, delivery, warehouse, removals or logistics experience is an advantage
Must have access to phone with internet, to download delivery app
