Description
This superbly detailed model of a former North Western Road Car Company Alexander Y Type is in the livery of the South East Lancashire and North East Cheshire Passenger Transport Executive (SELNEC) and displays the logo of their CHESHIRE Division, into which many of the vehicles were absorbed and repainted when North Western was broken up in the 1970s.
As the batch of vehicles were on Leyland chassis and bodied by Alexander of Falkirk, they were regarded as being “Dual Purpose” in that they could be used for both coaching and stage carriage duties. As such, they provided luxury seating and were popular with both passengers and crews.
This particular vehicle is on a local route from Stockport to Hazel Grove and has never been out of its box (see photos of a second model).
