About the Role – Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist

You will work closely with teaching staff and specialist professionals to support pupils with a range of communication and language needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), speech and language delays, and complex learning difficulties.

This role provides valuable experience for individuals who are passionate about communication development and are considering progressing into Speech and Language Therapy in the future.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups within the classroomAssisting with communication–focused learning activitiesSupporting pupils to develop speech, language and social communication skillsEncouraging independence, confidence and engagement in learningSupporting structured routines and communication strategiesWorking collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and specialist staffPromoting a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environmentThe Ideal Candidate

Passionate about communication development and supporting children with additional needsPatient, nurturing and emotionally resilientInterested in pursuing a career in Speech and Language TherapyAble to build positive and trusting relationships with pupilsAdaptable, proactive and supportive in the classroomPrevious experience supporting children with additional needs, communication difficulties, or autism would be beneficial. We also welcome applicants from psychology, care, youth work or support work backgrounds, as well as graduates interested in gaining relevant experience before further training.
