Description
Top of the regular range of Hofner archtops, the Committee was designed to impress. It was introduced as a UK-only model around 1953/54. This original Committee sported the over-large "frondose" headstock and stunning back detail.
This stunning blonde version has Birds Eye maple veneer for the body back and sides, with carved solid spruce body top. Serial number 2976 dates it to early 1959.
As can be seen from the photographs this guitar is in fantastic condition for its age - it does have some tiny blemishes shown in the last 4 photographs, including some of the "ears" missing on the decorative tuning buttons. The guitar is all original with the following exceptions : screws securing the tail piece, and both of the volume controls have been replaced.
The guitar sounds as good as it looks with these black bar pickups providing a brilliant vintage tone – the guitar has been setup with a new set of Thomastik Jazz Swing flat wound 12s and it comes complete with a Boston hard case that has one broken latch.
