Description

Hi, My name is Mel, I am a 30 year old guitarist skilled at the bass, electric/lead, acoustic and classical guitar. My favourite thing is to teach new beginners.

15 years ago I was a learner just like you and I taught myself from scratch after a tutor gave up on me the first day because he thought I would be a slow learner. Well that got me so determined and I went on to become very skilled at the bass, electric, acoustic and classical guitar and I can play different genres, I am empathetic towards those labelled as slow learners.

I have played electric guitar as a freelancer in Kensington Temple church on Sundays for 2 years, done several open mics and also played at the Rise music festival as a freelance session guitarist for the Harare Band.

I have no music degree but I have taught myself music theory and developed my skills over the years. Despite being in the legal profession and having a law degree, music (particularly guitar) remains my greatest passion.

Standard Rate:
1 hour £15, 1/2 hour £10

Student Rate:
£10 for both 1 hour & 1/2 hour

Home visits to your place: £5 extra

My lessons are relaxed, and there are no obligations to return. I work with your schedule, and can advise on what instrument to buy. I can lend an instrument during the first lessons, until you decide whether guitar is for you.

The first lesson is about setting realistic goals, and starting on a path that will help you achieve them. No previous knowledge of music is required, or ability to sight read. There will be a couple technical exercises to get the fingers moving, and then a simple song to learn. We will move at your pace.

Lessons are usually an hour long, but can be longer, or shorter, depending on your needs. No real age limitations, as I've taught between 6 and 67. Never too young, or old to try something new is my motto :-)

Teaching space is in my lounge/sitting room, I have an electric guitar and amp, I also have an acoustic guitar to provide for the learner.

As I'm a self employed guitar teacher, and also have another job I will do my best to suit your needs.

Please get in touch if you have any questions!

Thanks for reading,

Mel
