Description

Sound City B120 amp head unit and 3 speaker cab. Interconnecting cable included but not the guitar which is shown only to illustrate scale. I have owned this monster amp and cab for 40 years and it has been in storage for far too long and deserves to be used.
Tidy and clean condition, all working and viewing possible by arrangement.

These are incredibly powerful amps and the B version is particularly versatile. Designed as a bass amp it also works very well with lead guitar. I think it is a Mk4 from circa 1974. Built like a tank it is capable of upsetting neighbours several streets away, or filling a live venue. There is also a headphone jack!

Lots of information online and y tube if not aware of the history (Dave Reeves/Hiwatt etc) behind these amps. and just how superb they (still) are.

Normal channel is voiced flatter and warmer, with more low-end emphasis.
Brilliant channel input has a high-pass filter in the input stage, reducing bass and boosting treble, giving a brighter, more cutting tone. Each channel has its own volume pot, so you can set them independently.
To jumper these channels, Plug guitar into Input 1 of the Normal channel.
Use a short patch cable to connect Input 2 of the Normal channel to Input 1 of the Brilliant channel. Now both channels are active, use both volume knobs to blend tones

Reverb jacks. Not for General FX Loop: Unless modified, these jacks are only for the reverb circuit, not a full effects loop.
Use only with the proper reverb tank/driver. Do not treat them like speaker outs or a modern FX loop. If you don’t have the correct reverb module (eg compatible Accutronics model), leave them unused.

This amp still has the original 3 position grounding switch. - Centre is apparently the safest with UK earthed plugs. Side positions are obsolete and I'm advised should not be used. A modern safety service (earth wiring update) is recommended if you plan to gig or regularly run the B120.

Amp weighs in at 22kg, the cab at 34.
Collection or hand over by arrangement seems best option. Contact me to discuss if helpful. I am in N Staffs but travel up and down the country on occasions.
