Description

Technical Riding Inspector

Location: London St. Pancras + Some travel Required

12+ Month Initial Contract

Pay:

29.69 / hour PAYE

39.90 /hour Umbrella

+ Opportunity for overtime, Paid at 1.25%

Hours: 4 on 4 off shift pattern. 10 Hour shifts. Combination of Days & Nights (E.g. - 4 days, 4 off, 4 nights)

This role falls inside IR35 - payment via PAYE or Umbrella Company

Function of Role

Undertaking rapid fault finding and diagnosis of any type of fault affecting the service, operational capability or safety of a Set and the correction and/or isolation of any components found to be faulty to enable a return of any such Set to service where practicable

Key Responsibilities

Undertake fault finding and repair of Hitachi rolling stock assets while in passenger service and atoutstations / depots as required.

The post will also support the Maintenance Control team in working with the customer to get their desk(s) set up in the Rail Maintenance Control Centre and cover when necessary.Advise the customers operational staff where required in order to minimise operational delays to thepassenger service.

Travel on the associated network as directed by the Hitachi Control Room Team in order to meettrains in traffic

Carry a 4G tablet, diagnostic laptop and hand tools as required to undertake and record all work.Liaise with Network Rail staff and stakeholders as required.Confirm that traction and rolling stock assets comply with operational specifications by the use ofengineering processes and techniques

Keep SAP record system up to date with clear and concise information of work carried out.Read and extract information from traction and rolling stock drawings and specificationsPrepare for and undertake the removal and replacement of traction and rolling stock componentsModify or manufacture traction and rolling stock components by material removal using hand toolsInstall new traction and rolling stock components using engineering processes and techniquesIdentify, assess and rectify defects and discrepancies on Hitachi rolling stock assetsIdentify repeat defects on Hitachi rolling stock assets and suggest / carry out repairsCreate technical scopes of work for fault rectification by other members of staffAttend and provide technical support with failures in service when on dutyAdhere to health, safety, environmental & quality practices in the workplaceDevelop professionally and support good working relationshipsLearn new skills in accordance with Hitachi's new business demands as requiredLiaison with Hitachi and external personnel as required to complete the duties of the postOther responsibilities relevant to the role based on localised requirements

Essential Licences / Competences

Network Rail Sentinel PTSStock-Specific maintenance and fault diagnosis

Qualifications

Mechanical & Electrical HNC or served apprenticeship with mechanical, electrical disciplinesEngineering based NVQ level 3

Behavioural

Must be able to work as an individual or in a team and make decision under pressure.Sound knowledge of, and compliance to, rules and regulationsGood written and verbal communication skillsAble to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times24hr shift work

Desirable Licences / Competences

Intermediate IT skills - typically Word, ExcelDriving LicenceRequirements

Live within commuting distance (1 hour) of London St. PancrasRight to work in the UK and able to provide proof of qualificationsCompliance
